Bank reconciliation: then and now
How it works
Download the statement
Export it from online banking as Excel, CSV or a 1C file.
Upload it to X2
X2 matches bank lines with payments and shows what doesn’t match.
Decide and post
Choose what to do with each line and press “Post”.
You see exactly what doesn’t match
- A payment went through the bank but isn’t in X2, or the other way round
- A payment was posted to another account, say cash instead of card
- A payment was entered a few days after it went through the bank
Card acquiring and bank fees
- The bank’s daily payout is compared with card sales in X2
- If the bank kept more than the contract says, you see it right away
- The difference goes in as a “bank fee” expense in one tap
A decision for each line, one button for all
- Debt payment, income or expense with a category, link to a payment, or ignore
- Nothing changes in your books until you press “Post”
- X2 makes the same entries you would make by hand
Several X2 accounts for one bank account
- One bank account is often split in X2, for example into Kaspi Gold, Kaspi QR and Kaspi Pay
- Tick those accounts once, and X2 reconciles them together
- The next statement for that account picks them up by itself
Reconcile your own statement
A manager will show you reconciliation on your own statement and payments. You’ll see what doesn’t match for you right now.
Excel, CSV and 1C
A statement from any bank in one of these formats will do.
Balance check
If lines are missing from the statement, X2 tells you before reconciling.
Entered later
X2 finds a payment entered days after the bank and offers to match it.
Move to the right account
A payment posted to the wrong account can be moved.
Debt payments from the statement
Money from a customer closes their unpaid sales, a supplier payment closes goods receipts.
Posted by whoever you allow
The owner decides which staff can post a reconciliation.

Which banks’ statements can I upload?
Any bank, as long as the statement is in Excel, CSV or the 1C exchange format. Most online banks offer this export. PDF isn’t accepted yet.
Will X2 write anything to my books on its own?
No. Nothing changes in the system until you press “Post”. Your decisions on each line are saved, so you can come back to the statement later.
What if pages or lines are missing from the statement?
X2 checks it: the opening balance plus incoming minus outgoing must give the closing balance. If it doesn’t, X2 shows the difference and asks you to upload the statement again.
I have several X2 accounts for one bank account. Will that work?
Yes. Tick all of them, and X2 reconciles them together. Transfers between them aren’t visible to the bank, and X2 takes that into account.
Who can post a reconciliation?
An employee the owner has given this permission. Others won’t see reconciliation at all.
Which plan includes bank reconciliation?
The Expert plan. You can try it on your own statement with a manager, free of charge.
